On the 23rd September the Taangh Wasaib Organization arranged a meeting to remember those who were killed in the suicide bombings in Peshawar. Over 500 people gathered, many of them school children to show their support and prayer for those innocents who were killed. The number of dead has surpassed 200 with at least 120 injured.
Father Cyril attended on behalf of the Mission and spoke to the assembly “We condemn acts of violence of this kind and call on the government to ensure the safety of all citizens, and especially of religious minorities.”
Father Cyril spoke on the beatitudes in light of the recent events light on the bible verse “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for my sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. (Matthew 5:10-12). “Strong Christians today who are not afraid to speak the truth of God’s Word may not be martyred for their faith, but they certainly will not be considered a guest of honor at a secular social gathering either. To be rejected by the world means to be accepted by Christ.”
In conclusion, the candles were lit in memory of martyred.
